Research workshop Open Museum<\/strong><\/em>, conducted by Artur \u017bmijewski, will take place at the National Art Museum of Ukraine from the 10th to the 17th of September. The workshop will be held in the format of a collective research of the Museum as a cultural institution that is rethinking its strategy and role in the society. A group of researchers, artists, and activists, who were selected by Artur \u017bmijewski as a result of an open competition, were invited to participate in the workshop.<\/p>\n

The research group of Open Museum<\/em> consists of: Volodmyr Vorotniov, Maria Guryeva, Lubov Kuybida, Lesia Kulchynska, Daria Prydybailo, Maria Prokopenko, Anastasia Sidelnik, Mykola Skyba, as well as groups “Open Place” (Yulia Kostereva, Yuriy Kruchak) and “Curatorial Platform” (Lizaveta German, Tetyana Kochubynska, Maria Lanko).<\/p>\n

Research within the workshop will be focused on the following issues: How does the museum\u2019s mission transform in today\u2019s world? How do the cultural institutions work in the political field? Can art and its institutions be an instrument for real change in the society?<\/p>\n

Artur \u017bmijewski<\/strong> is an artist, essayist and curator. He is the artistic editor of Political Critique magazine (Krytyka Polityczna). He represented Poland at 51st Venice Biennale (2004). His works were shown at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; KunstWerke (Berlin), National Gallery of Art Zach\u0119ta, Documenta 12 (2007), Manifesta 4 (2002). In 2012, he curated the 7th Berlin Biennale.<\/p>\n

Presentation of the results of the workshop with Artur \u017bmijewski and the participants will take place on the 18th of September<\/strong> at NAMU. <\/p>\n
