Ranging from art to politics, from theory to grassroots practices\u2014we will continue to discuss possible paths towards a post-national future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, November 23, at 16:00<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0<strong>Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information\u00a0<\/strong>(\u201cUFO\u201d, 180 Antonovycha St., metro Lybidska) participants and initiators of\u00a0<strong>Studio 14<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Shedhalle<\/strong>\u00a0projects (Greece\/Switzerland\/Italy\/Poland\/Germany) will gather with Ukrainian participants\u00a0<strong>to discuss the idea of a \u201ccommon lexicon for Europe.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Engaging with a constellation of issues that haunt contemporary political discourse \u2014 such as borders and migration, languages and translation, traditions and prophecies \u2014 this workshop will interweave prior research conducted in Athens, Greece within the contexts of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Connecting the southern peripheries of (non-)Europe with its Eastern fringes, the workshop aims to establish a common ground and a common language in order to constitute the lexicon for times to come.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At 19:00<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0<strong>Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information<\/strong>(\u201cUFO\u201d, 180 Antonovycha St., metro Lybidska) the final film\u00a0<strong>screening\u00a0<\/strong>in the \u201cUkrainian Revolutionary Cinema Avant-Garde Series\u201d will take place:\u00a0<strong>\u00a0\u201cPerekop\u201d<\/strong>(1930) by\u00a0<strong>Ivan Kavaleridze.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, November 24, at 19:00<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>there will be a presentation of the Ukrainian translation of the book\u00a0<em>On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century<\/em>, by Timothy Snyder<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0<strong>Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cUFO\u201d, 180 Antonovycha St., metro Lybidska) with the editor of the Ukrainian edition,\u00a0<strong>Kateryna Mishchenko<\/strong>, and journalist\u00a0<strong>Angelina Kariakina<\/strong>\u00a0(Ukraine). This book by Timothy Snyder, Professor of History at Yale University, is a timely textbook designed for a broad audience that supplies laconic insights into the history of the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century. The author draws attention to global trends in shrinking democracy, as well as the role of civil responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, November 25, at 15:00<\/strong>\u00a0the curator, architect, and participants of the\u00a0<strong>exhibition \u201cMarket\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0will lead\u00a0<strong>a guided tour around the exhibit at Zhytniy Market.<\/strong>The buildings of Ukrainian indoor markets, constructed in the 1960s\u20131980s, are unique monuments to late modernism. However, these structures are not formally recognized by Ukrainian law and are thus vulnerable to devastating renovations. The purpose of the \u201cMarket\u201d project is to draw attention to these buildings as newly discovered monuments. This site-specific project draws explicit attention to its location, Zhytniy Market, which was constructed in 1980 in the so-called Soviet International style.<\/p>\n<p>Participants of the Exhibition Include:\u00a0Dana Kosmina, Nikita Kadan, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, Ksenia Hnylytska, Oleksandr Burlaka, Oleksiy Bykov, David Chichkan (Ukraine), Sergey Shabokhin (Belarus).\u00a0Curated by Hanna Tsyba. Exhibition display by Dana Kosmina.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At 19:00<\/strong><strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information<\/strong>(\u201cUFO\u201d, 180 Antonovycha St., metro Lybidska) there will be\u00a0<strong>a screening of the film \u201cGlimpse\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0(2016\u201317) by\u00a0<strong>Artur \u017bmijewski<\/strong>\u00a0(Poland), an artist, filmmaker and curator, followed by a<strong>\u00a0discussion with the author.\u00a0<\/strong>This film was shot in the so-called \u201cJungles\u201d \u2013 the most well-known European refugee camp in Calais (France). Before being dispersed by the French authorities, the \u201cJungles\u201d had become a shelter for nearly ten thousand people, almost as if it were a separate city. Surviving in tents and self-made houses, its inhabitants settled into \u201cneighborhoods\u201d in accordance with the country of their origin \u2013 Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc. Most had survived war, violence, the loss of their families, and dangerous journies. Before the eviction of the camp, its residents organized themselves in order to defend their temporary home.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Kyiv International \u2013 Kyiv Biennial 2017<\/em>\u00a0will close with the\u00a0<strong>performance \u201cPetition against Death\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0by the world known artist\u00a0<strong>ORLAN<\/strong>\u00a0(France). The performance will take place on\u00a0<strong>Sunday, November 26, at 15:00 at\u00a0<\/strong><strong>the<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information\u00a0<\/strong>(\u201cUFO\u201d, 180 Antonovycha St., metro Lybidska).<\/p>\n<p>ORLAN is one of the most famous French artists known internationally. She is a major figure in the field of body art and \u201ccarnal art,\u201d as she once defined it in her 1989 manifesto. ORLAN uses her own body as the medium and subject for her artistic practice. She creates sculptures, photographs, performances, videos and videogames, augmented reality, using scientific and medical techniques such as surgery and biogenetics.
